It’s Met Gala Monday, which means that literally everyone who is anyone is gathered in New York City tonight for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala. (You know, the one run by Anna Wintour.) The thing about the Met Gala is that it’s not tied to an awards show or anything, but it’s usually the most fun and interesting red carpet of the year. And you know who’s great at wearing jaw-dropping red carpet looks? Beyoncé.
Unfortunately for us, we didn’t get to see Queen Bey walk the Met Gala’s red carpet this year. Instead of attending the star-studded event, Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z were vacationing in Miami and on private islands near Florida’s coast, according to the Daily Mail. We honestly should be used to not seeing her at fashion’s biggest night at this point because she hasn’t graced the event with her presence since 2016 (!!), but we still hold out hope!
Because we’re all feeling extra nostalgic these days, let’s take a walk down memory lane to see some of Beyoncé’s past looks, shall we? There have been some GOOD ones. I mean, she really had a hot streak going there for a while.
2016: “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology”
Wearing Givenchy.
2015: “China: Through the Looking Glass”
Wearing Givenchy again.
2014: “Charles James: Beyond Fashion”
Wearing Givenchy. (Are you sensing a theme?)
2013: “Punk: Chaos to Couture”
Wearing Givenchy.
2012: “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations”
(Yep.) Wearing Givenchy.
2011: “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”
Wearing Roberto Cavalli.
She didn’t attend in either 2009 or 2010, so unfortunately we have a bit of a gap after her first year, which was…
2008: “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy”
Wearing Armani Privé.
Someone please @ me with details about what star I need to wish upon in order for Bey to be at next year’s Met, k? Thanks!
