When figuring out +9 – (-9) =
Use the analogy of a pot of warm water that is at (+9) degrees. If you remove NINE NEGATIVE DEGREES (-9), the water is actually getting 9 degrees WARMER. That is why +9 – (-9) = 18 instead of 0. Remember, TWO NEGATIVES EQUAL A POSITIVE! +9 – (-9) = CHANGES to +9 +9 = +18. Watch the video for extra clarification.
