Here we will show you how to calculate the radius, diameter, and area of a circle with a circumference of 3. All answers come with the definition, formula, math, and of course, the answer. We start by displaying an illustration of a color-coded circle with a circumference of 3.

The circumference is shown in black in our illustration above. The circumference is the perimeter of a circle. In other words, the circumference is the length of the arc or edge of the circle. Our circumference is 3. For our calculations, it could be a circumference of 3 inches, a circumference of 3 cm, a circumference of 3 mm, or any other unit of measurement.

Radius of a circle with a circumference of 3

The radius is shown in red in our illustration above. The radius is the straight line distance from the center of the circle to the edge of the circle. Here is the formula, the math, and the answer to calculate the radius of a circle with a circumference of 3:

Circumference ÷ (2 × π) = Radius

3 ÷ (2 × π) ≈ 0.48

Diameter of a circle with a circumference of 3

The diameter is shown in green in our illustration above. The diameter is the straight line distance through the center from one side of the circle to the other side. Thus, it is simply twice the size of the radius. Here is the formula, the math, and the answer to calculate the diameter of a circle with a circumference of 3:

Radius × 2 = Diameter

0.48 × 2 ≈ 0.96

Area of a circle with a circumference of 3

The area is colored in orange in our illustration above. To calculate the area of a circle, you multiply Pi (π) by radius squared. Below is the formula, the math, and the answer to calculate the area of a circle with a circumference of 3:

π × Radius2 = Area

π × 0.482 ≈ 0.72

Note that Pi (π) is an irrational number that starts with 3.14 and goes on indefinitely. For all our calculations, we used Pi with eight decimal places (3.14159265), and then we rounded to the nearest hundredth.
