This is an easy to use and visually appealing set of Google Slides presentations for Topic 1.1-1.7 of AP World History: Modern.

What is Included:

Notes over the information that the College Board has deemed students are responsible for knowing about this topic. The presentation includes some of the College Board’s recommended illustrative examples. Slides are displayed with the information and relevant pictures, graphs, and charts to help demonstrate the content. Finally, each slide has lecture notes accompanying it to help teachers (or students) fully explain the most important details of the content as well as fun and interesting facts to keep you and your students engaged!

How can this be used:

* Used as a visual to accompany a lecture for direct instruction.

* Assign to students as part of a flipped classroom – the lecture notes can help answer questions students may have as well as answer the questions that are included on some of the slides.

* Used to help review the topic.

What sets this apart from other similar resources on TPT?

* Many lecture notes are jammed pack with information that can be overbearing for teachers and students alike. Presentations that go into too much detail can be time-consuming, cumbersome, and contain more detail than what College Board would expect students to know. Also, students can be overwhelmed when they see too much information thrown at them all at once on a slide, which leads to a defeated feeling. These slides alleviate these problems by focusing on the CED (Course Exam Description that is provided by the College Board) of the course. Therefore, teachers are able to go into more details on topics they enjoy covering if they choose. At the same time, teachers can quickly cover the required content of the topic in order to conserve time for other activities throughout the year, all while knowing that the material of the CED has been covered.

*There are embedded questions on slides and in the lecture notes that help students develop their critical thinking skills as well as historical thinking skills (Comparisons, Cause/Effect, Change and Continuities Over Time).
