In this assignment, students will learn to calculate the three major types of population density (arithmetic, physiological, and agricultural) as required by the AP Human Geography CED (Students will use population density to explain the relationship between people and the environment. [2.1 – PSO 2B]).

This assignment includes:

  • An instructional presentation (Microsoft PowerPoint – 5 slides) to guide your students on the methods of calculation. Brazil is included as an example for each type.
  • A corresponding activity in which students will practice calculating each type of population density. A significant country choice is paired with each type – with the data students need already provided.
  • An answer key for the student activity, and to aid the instructor in discussion of their examples as compared to what was seen with Brazil during the instructional presentation.
